PROPOSED SITE FOR THE ROBE SLSC CLUB FACILITY

‘Seeking a permanent home to keep you safe at the beach’

Robe SLSC is currently seeking initial approval and support from the Robe District Council, for a permanent club facility. Once we have been granted approval we will then enter the design phase of the project. We will engage with the community on several design concepts to land on a facility that best achieves community, environment, and Robe SLSC emergency support needs.

LOCATION

Robe SLSC is proposing to be located in the carpark at:

LOT 5, ESPLANADE, ROBE (CARPARK AT SECOND RAMP)

WHY THIS LOCATION:

The ability to conveniently access Long Beach via Second Ramp is fundamental to the emergency rescue services the RSLSC provides.

THINGS TO NOTE:

  • We will work closely with Coastal Protection, local Bunganditj people and specialist consultants when considering the building design

  • We will work with Council to find a solution for the displaced car-parking

  • The proposed location does not encroach on any native vegetation or surrounding coastal habitat

WHAT DOES ROBE SLSC DO FOR YOUR COMMUNITY?

Robe Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) has been providing water safety and training in our community for the past 11 years. Our team of dedicated volunteers provide vital beach patrols, keeping our beaches safe and ensuring locals and visitors can enjoy the water with confidence. However, the impact of the club extends far beyond just patrols.

Our Nippers program is one of the most important initiatives we run, offering children aged 5-14 the chance to learn essential surf safety skills, build confidence in the water and develop lifelong skills that could one day save lives. By nurturing the next generation of surf lifesavers, we are not only investing in the safety of our beaches but also offering our children a safe and inclusive skill development program and a sense of belonging to our community.

Additionally, as well as beach patrols during the busy summer months, the Robe SLSC also offers water cover and first aid at important community events. These include the Long Cally Swim, Robe’s annual IRB carnival, Australian Navy Surfboat Rowers League competitions and VACSWIM.

To continue our mission and enhance what we can offer the community, we are seeking support to build a dedicated Surf Life Saving Club facility in Robe. A permanent facility would provide a safe space for training, equipment storage and community events. It would also allow us to expand our educational programs, offer improved first aid services, training courses and create a central hub for our volunteers and Nippers and our community members.

Having this facility will bring significant benefits to the entire Robe community. It will strengthen our ability to provide year-round safety services, build a stronger, connected and inclusive community, support community wellbeing and ensure that future generations are equipped with lifesaving skills.

We are asking for your support to make this vision a reality. Together, we can build a facility that will serve as a lasting investment in the safety and future of our town.
